‘Here’s to Women & Country Music’: Ella Langley Toasts Her First Billboard Hot 100 Chart-Topper

Trending on Billboard
Ella Langley just made history as she earned her first No. 1 hit on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 with her song “Choosin’ Texas.”
The groovy country tune, which Langley wrote with Grammy winner Miranda Lambert, as well as JoyBeth Taylor and Luke Dick, soared to the chart’s pinnacle, and in the process, Langley became the first woman to have her song top Billboard‘s Hot 100, Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously. The only other songs that have managed the feat are Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help” (feat. Morgan Wallen), Shaboozey’s “Tipsy (A Bar Song)” and Wallen’s “Last Night.”
“Choosin’ Texas” is in its 11th week at the pinnacle of the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart and in its first atop the radio-based Country Airplay chart. The song is from Langley’s forthcoming album Dandelion, which will release April 10.
Langley reacted to the history-making feat on social media, sharing a video on Instagram and captioning it, “We did it!! Choosin’ Texas is the #1 song on the @billboard #Hot100 🤯🥹 I can’t thank y’all enough for what you’ve done with this song, it blows my mind every single day. Here’s to women & country music.”
Langley was far from the only artist reacting to the news. Lambert shared an image of Langley on social media and commented, “LEGEND.” On Langley’s post, “Choosin’ Texas” co-writer Luke Dick commented, “Amen,” while Taylor posted a Hot 100 chart image with “Choosin’ Texas” at the top and commented, “Making history.”
Many other artists also chimed in in Langley’s comments section on Instagram. Tanya Tucker responded, “You go girl,” while duo Tigirlily commented, “So huge! Congrats Ella!” George Birge commented, “Historic” with clapping and fire emojis. Graham Barham responded to Langley’s video, writing “Go Shawty,” while Emily Ann Roberts commented, “I could literally cry right now I’m so proud.”
Langley will soon hit the road on her headlining Dandelion Tour, which launches May 7 in Ohio, and welcomes openers Kameron Marlowe, Dylan Marlowe, Kaitlin Butts, Gabriella Rose and Laci Kaye Booth. She also has shows opening for Eric Church’s Free the Machine Tour and Wallen’s Still the Problem Tour.
