Ready, set, action! Nick Jonas<\/a> has landed the starring role in Bodyman<\/em>, a high-stakes thriller directed by Gary Fleder and written by Byron Balasco.<\/p>\n

The news was reported by Variety<\/a> <\/em>on Tuesday (Feb. 10), revealing that the Jonas Brothers musician will play the longtime bodyguard of \u201can eccentric billionaire\u201d in the film. When Jonas\u2019 character \u201cunexpectedly\u201d receives the inheritance to the rich man\u2019s private military company over the billionaire\u2019s own children, things get violent \u2014 and getting out of the family\u2019s remote estate alive isn\u2019t guaranteed. <\/p>\n

Fleder, Balasco and Jonas previously worked together on Audience Network\u2019s Kingdom <\/em>series. In a statement, Fleder called Bodyman <\/em>a \u201csmart, lean, high-voltage action thriller that gives Nick the chance to show every side of what he can do: the physicality, the intensity and the emotional depth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bodyman <\/em>will be produced by Powered by Jonas, which also worked on A Very Jonas Christmas Movie <\/em>starring Nick and brothers Kevin and Joe. Nick added, \u201cI\u2019ve been developing this project for a while and I\u2019m excited to see it come to fruition. Re-teaming with Byron Balasco and director Gary Fleder also makes this project more special to me.\u201d <\/p>\n

Principal photography is slated to begin in June. It follows the release of Nick\u2019s first solo album in five years, Sunday Best<\/em>, earlier in February.<\/p>\n

The musician enters his latest role with plenty of acting experience under his belt. Getting his start on Disney Channel projects Jonas <\/em>and Camp Rock<\/em>, Nick has also appeared in 2015\u2019s Careful What You Wish For<\/em>, the 2017 and 2019 Jumanji <\/em>movies and more. <\/p>\n

This summer, Nick and his Jo Bros bandmates will also reprise their roles as the Gray brothers in a new Camp Rock <\/em>movie<\/a> coming to Disney+.<\/p>\n
