More Taylor Swift<\/a> fans than ever before likely tuned in to this season of The Traitors <\/em>to watch Donna Kelce \u2014 who is the mom of the pop superstar\u2019s fianc\u00e9, Travis Kelce<\/a> \u2014 compete. But in a new interview, the show\u2019s producers revealed how those extra eyeballs impacted the show in ways they didn\u2019t expect.<\/p>\n

While speaking to Variety<\/a> <\/em>in a Thursday (Feb. 12) breakdown of the competition series\u2019 fourth installment, executive producers Rosie Franks and Sam Rees-Jones reflected on the choice to not only cast Donna, but to also make her The Traitors<\/em>\u2018 first ever Secret Traitor. \u201cShe really did want to play,\u201d Franks began. \u201cShe came with so much strategy.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then the idea of having Taylor Swift\u2019s future mother-in-law wandering around the castle secretly in a red cloak, there\u2019s nothing more camp than that,\u201d she continued. \u201cSo we felt like that really would lean into the tone of The Traitors.<\/em>\u201d <\/p>\n

What the showrunners didn\u2019t expect, however, was that the other contestants on the Peacock<\/a> <\/em>reality competition would feel influenced by the 14-time Grammy winner\u2019s fanbase when making decisions on who to vote in or out of the castle. \u201cWe never thought the players would be scared of the Swiftes, but maybe we underestimated the Swifties,\u201d Rees-Jones said.<\/p>\n

Franks agreed, \u201cNever underestimate the Swifties.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed, Donna\u2019s competitors were keenly aware of how her soon-to-be daughter-in-law\u2019s devoted listeners might react if they crossed her on the show. As Dorinda Medley said<\/a> in one episode, \u201cNo one\u2019s gonna murder [Donna] \u2014 the Swifties will kill you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Season four premiered on Jan. 8, revealing in episode three \u2014 when she was eliminated \u2014 that the Kelce matriarch was the first contestant on the show to ever compete as a Traitor without the other Traitors ever knowing her identity. At one point, she aptly quoted Swift\u2019s Midnights <\/em>track \u201cVigilante Shit,\u201d saying, \u201cDon\u2019t get mad, get even.\u201d<\/p>\n

She now has her youngest son\u2019s wedding to look forward to, something she touched on when TMZ <\/em>approached her recently and asked whether she\u2019d signed an NDA ahead of the under-wraps ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, no, no,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201c[Taylor and Travis] know I can keep a secret.\u201d<\/p>\n
