This week in dance music: Avicii\u2019s country\/EDM crossover classic \u201cWake Me Up\u201d became<\/a> just one of 51 songs to reach three billion streams on YouTube, Diplo talked about<\/a> working with BTS on their comeback album Arirang<\/em> and SoundCloud\u2019s new Music Intelligence Report found electronic music<\/a> to be a key genre on the platform, citing it as its fastest growing genre. <\/p>\n

As reported by Billboard <\/em>earlier this week, the reports notes that \u201cin 2020, roughly one in four tracks uploaded to SoundCloud was in an electronic genre. In 2025, it was more than one in three. Last year, the number of uploads hashtagged \u201c#DJSET\u201d also increased 39% year over year. Altogether, these uploads made electronic music SoundCloud\u2019s fastest-growing genre in the U.S., where it accounted for \u2018a greater percentage of all listening for the third year running.’\u201d The report found that dubstep in particular is surging on the streamer, with producers Levity, Tape B and more leading this charge. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Femme House announced<\/a> that it\u2019s bringing back its Femmy Awards next mont in Miami. The event\u2019s second year will award special honors to Anja Schneider, Ultra Nat\u00e9, Tokimonsta and John Summit. Deadmau5 released a statement <\/a>after a deepfake video of him appearing to endorse another artist\u2019s music was posted online and Subtronics and John Summit both<\/a> implored<\/a> Casey Wasserman, the CEO of their agency Wasserman, to step down after newly released files revealed Wasserman\u2019s close relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell. <\/p>\n
