(EUROPA PRESS) &#8211; <\/p>\n<p> El an\u00e1lisis del ADN mitocondrial (mtDNA) ha demostrado eficacia para medir la adaptaci\u00f3n del cuerpo al ejercicio f\u00edsico, por lo que puede servir como herramienta complementaria a la prueba de esfuerzo que mide la capacidad aer\u00f3bica m\u00e1xima (VO2max), seg\u00fan han revelado investigadores de la Universidad Europea, la Universidad Complutense y la Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid.<\/p>\n<p> La investigaci\u00f3n, publicada en &#8216;Springer Nature Link&#8217;, observ\u00f3 que los corredores con un alto nivel de entrenamiento tienen una cantidad de ADN mitocondrial en sus c\u00e9lulas sangu\u00edneas mucho mayor que la de personas sedentarias, lo que significa que tienen mayor resistencia y capacidad para soportar esfuerzos prolongados.<\/p>\n<p> \u00abEsto nos da una &#8216;foto&#8217; directa de la plasticidad celular, e informaci\u00f3n sobre los mecanismos moleculares en la adaptaci\u00f3n al ejercicio\u00bb, ha explicado la docente y coinvestigadora principal del ESBIDA (Ejercicio, Salud y Biomarcadores Aplicados) Research Group de la Universidad Europea, Tamara Iturriaga.<\/p>\n<p> El equipo prob\u00f3 su hip\u00f3tesis a trav\u00e9s de un programa de entrenamiento de intervalos de alta intensidad (HIIT), en el que participaron 32 personas que no hac\u00edan ejercicio de forma regular durante seis semanas. En concreto, 17 personas siguieron el plan de entrenamiento y las otras 15 formaron un grupo de control sedentario.<\/p>\n<p> Al finalizar, se midieron sus resultados a trav\u00e9s de una prueba de VO2max y un an\u00e1lisis del ADN mitocondrial. Los participantes del grupo activo mostraron una mejora notable de su capacidad aer\u00f3bica y el ADN de las mitocondrias se vio incrementado, de media, en un 321,6 por ciento, frente al 12,8 por ciento que regitr\u00f3 el grupo de control.<\/p>\n<p> \u00abEl ADN mitocondrial podr\u00eda actuar como un chivato, un marcador que nos indica de forma indirecta que se est\u00e1n creando nuevas mitocondrias y que, por tanto, el cuerpo se est\u00e1 adaptando al ejercicio\u00bb, ha resaltado la catedr\u00e1tica de Gen\u00e9tica, coautora e investigadora principal del ESBIDA Research Group de la Universidad Europea, Catalina Santiago-Dorrego.<\/p>\n<p> Sin embargo, el estudio apunta que la respuesta no fue igual para todos. Tras las seis semanas de entrenamiento, detectaron una alta variabilidad, con cerca de un 30 por ciento de participantes que apenas mostraron mejoras, un hallazgo que los autores han relacionado con el sobrepeso.<\/p>\n<p> \u00abVimos una relaci\u00f3n clara entre la falta de respuesta y una composici\u00f3n corporal menos favorable. Las personas con un mayor \u00cdndice de Masa Corporal (IMC) y un porcentaje de grasa m\u00e1s elevado tend\u00edan a no mejorar\u00bb, ha detallado la catedr\u00e1tica de la Universidad Europea.<\/p>\n<p> De este modo, la medici\u00f3n del ADN mitocondrial se confirma como una herramienta no invasiva y accesible que, lejos de reemplazar, potencia la cl\u00e1sica prueba de esfuerzo.
