Lowenthal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/multimedia.noticiassin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/pucmm-otorga-un-titulo-honorifico-al-catedratico-abraham-f-lowenthal-20260417-154857-1j0Z-1200x675.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Santiago<\/strong>.- La <strong>Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Madre y Maestra<\/strong> (<strong>PUCMM<\/strong>) otorg\u00f3 este viernes el t\u00edtulo de doctor honoris causa en Humanidades al destacado catedr\u00e1tico <strong>Abraham Frederic Lowenthal<\/strong>, como reconocimiento a sus valiosos aportes al pensamiento, la investigaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de las relaciones internacionales y las ciencias sociales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abraham Frederic Lowenthal<\/strong> es un acad\u00e9mico, docente y asesor en pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas, con una amplia trayectoria en el estudio de las relaciones exteriores y <strong>Am\u00e9rica Latina<\/strong>. Es profesor em\u00e9rito de la <strong>Universidad del Sur de California<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Su v\u00ednculo con la <strong>Rep\u00fablica Dominicana<\/strong> se remonta a 1963, cuando lleg\u00f3 desde <strong>Estados Unidos<\/strong> como parte de un programa de la <strong>Fundaci\u00f3n Ford<\/strong> para colaborar con la <strong>Asociaci\u00f3n para el Desarrollo de Santiago<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Su presencia e investigaci\u00f3n de los acontecimientos de 1965 y la intervenci\u00f3n de <strong>Estados Unidos<\/strong> dio origen al estudio que sustent\u00f3 su tesis doctoral en <strong>Harvard<\/strong> y a publicaciones fundamentales sobre la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>A lo largo de su carrera, ha contribuido a la creaci\u00f3n y fortalecimiento de importantes instituciones acad\u00e9micas y de an\u00e1lisis internacional, entre ellas el <strong>Programa Latinoamericano<\/strong> del <strong>Centro Internacional Woodrow Wilson<\/strong>, el <strong>Di\u00e1logo Interamericano<\/strong> y el <strong>Consejo del Pac\u00edfico en Pol\u00edtica Internacional<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ceremonia en la PUCMM<\/h2>\n<p>El acto acad\u00e9mico celebrado en el campus de <strong>Santiago<\/strong> inici\u00f3 con el desfile de profesores y autoridades universitarias, y la invocaci\u00f3n al Se\u00f1or, a cargo de monse\u00f1or <strong>Andr\u00e9s Amauri Rosario Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, obispo auxiliar de <strong>Santiago<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>El rector de esta <strong>PUCMM<\/strong>, reverendo padre doctor <strong>Secilio Espinal<\/strong>, ofreci\u00f3 la bienvenida y dio lectura a la resoluci\u00f3n que otorg\u00f3 el doctorado.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La presentaci\u00f3n del homenajeado fue realizada por el historiador, doctor <strong>Frank Moya Pons<\/strong>, tras lo cual se procedi\u00f3 a la colocaci\u00f3n de insignias del Honoris Causa por parte del rector.<\/p>\n<p>Como parte de la ceremonia, <strong>Lowenthal<\/strong> dirigi\u00f3 un mensaje al auditorio. <strong>Lowenthal<\/strong> ha sido condecorado por los Gobiernos de <strong>Brasil<\/strong>, <strong>Per\u00fa<\/strong> y <strong>Rep\u00fablica Dominicana<\/strong>. Ha recibido un doctorado honoris causa de <strong>Notre Dame<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reconocimientos recibidos<\/h3>\n<p>En 2024, fue galardonado con el Premio <strong>Kalman Silvert<\/strong> de la <strong>Asociaci\u00f3n de Estudios Latinoamericanos<\/strong>.
