Aunque el despegue y el aterrizaje ocurrieron sin problemas, la misi\u00f3n fall\u00f3 parcialmente debido a un rendimiento insuficiente de la etapa superior. El sat\u00e9lite BlueBird 7, de la empresa estadounidense AST SpaceMobile, se separ\u00f3 correctamente, pero qued\u00f3 en una \u00f3rbita demasiado baja para poder operar. Al no contar con propulsi\u00f3n suficiente para elevar su altitud, entrar\u00e1 en un proceso de desorbitaci\u00f3n en el corto plazo.<\/p>\n<p>AST SpaceMobile es una compa\u00f1\u00eda de Estados Unidos que pretende construir una red m\u00f3vil de banda ancha espacial capaz de ofrecer velocidades de hasta 120 Mbps directamente a tel\u00e9fonos convencionales, sin <em>hardware<\/em> adicional. Su objetivo es desplegar alrededor de 45 sat\u00e9lites BlueBird en \u00f3rbita baja antes de 2026, en un modelo que recuerda a la expansi\u00f3n acelerada de constelaciones como <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/rusia-estaria-desarrollando-un-arma-para-destruir-los-satelites-de-starlink-de-elon-musk\">Starlink<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>El BlueBird 7, el primer sat\u00e9lite operativo de la nueva generaci\u00f3n comercial (Block 2), deb\u00eda alcanzar su \u00f3rbita el 19 de abril. Sin embargo, una anomal\u00eda en la etapa superior del New Glenn lo dej\u00f3 en un punto irrecuperable. \u201cSe espera que el costo del sat\u00e9lite se recupere bajo la p\u00f3liza de seguro de la compa\u00f1\u00eda\u201d, dijo AST SpaceMobile en <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/feeds.issuerdirect.com\/news-release.html?newsid=5941043598547951&amp;symbol=ASTS\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/feeds.issuerdirect.com\/news-release.html?newsid=5941043598547951&amp;symbol=ASTS&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/feeds.issuerdirect.com\/news-release.html?newsid=5941043598547951&amp;symbol=ASTS\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">un comunicado<\/a>. Blue Origin, por su parte, se limit\u00f3 a se\u00f1alar que \u201cla carga \u00fatil fue colocada en una \u00f3rbita no nominal\u201d y que contin\u00faa evaluando la causa del fallo.<\/p>\n<p>Tras el incidente, las acciones de AST SpaceMobile cayeron alrededor de un 8%, con descensos posteriores de hasta un 12%, seg\u00fan <em>Forbes Espa\u00f1a<\/em>. La firma ya tiene seis sat\u00e9lites en \u00f3rbita, lanzados previamente mediante los servicios de Soyuz (Rusia) y Falcon 9 (<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/por-que-spacex-ahora-planea-salir-a-bolsa-tras-resistirse-por-anos\">SpaceX<\/a>), pero esta fue la primera vez que emple\u00f3 los servicios de Blue Origin para transportar un BlueBird.<\/p>\n<p>Vale hacer una aclaraci\u00f3n. Los sat\u00e9lites de AST SpaceMobile buscan crear una red que permita a los tel\u00e9fonos conectarse directamente con el espacio sin depender de torres terrestres ni antenas externas. Esto es distinto al servicio de Starlink, que distribuye <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/china-se-prepara-para-pelear-por-el-mercado-de-internet-satelital-de-starlink\">internet satelital<\/a> mediante una antena dedicada. Aunque Starlink permite acceder a internet desde pr\u00e1cticamente cualquier punto, no ofrece telefon\u00eda m\u00f3vil tradicional. Si supera la misi\u00f3n inicial, podr\u00eda entregar el <em>rover<\/em> VIPER al Polo Sur lunar y apoyar la futura presencia humana en la Luna.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<h2>Un hito para Blue Origin<\/h2>\n<p>Independientemente del error en la etapa superior, la misi\u00f3n marc\u00f3 un precedente para Blue Origin. Esta es la primera vez que la compa\u00f1\u00eda reutiliza el propulsor de un New Glenn: el mismo que hab\u00eda recuperado con \u00e9xito en noviembre de 2025 durante la misi\u00f3n NG\u20112. En aquel vuelo, la primera etapa regres\u00f3 de manera aut\u00f3noma y aterriz\u00f3 en una barcaza en el Atl\u00e1ntico, lo que permiti\u00f3 su reacondicionamiento durante los meses siguientes para volar nuevamente en la NG\u20113 de abril de 2026.<\/p>\n<p>La reutilizaci\u00f3n de propulsores representa un punto de inflexi\u00f3n en la industria espacial. Durante m\u00e1s de seis d\u00e9cadas, las primeras etapas se perd\u00edan en el oc\u00e9ano tras cada lanzamiento, lo que obligaba a fabricar un cohete pr\u00e1cticamente desde cero para cada misi\u00f3n. SpaceX fue la primera compa\u00f1\u00eda en dominar esta t\u00e9cnica con el <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/elon-musk-parece-imparable-en-su-intento-de-dominar-el-espacio\">Falcon 9<\/a>, reduciendo dr\u00e1sticamente los costos de acceso a la \u00f3rbita baja. Ahora, Blue Origin demuestra que puede seguir el mismo camino.
