Un nuevo estudio revel\u00f3 que, durante la \u00faltima d\u00e9cada, la intensidad y la distribuci\u00f3n de este fen\u00f3meno han sido m\u00e1s vol\u00e1tiles como consecuencia de factores como los confinamientos, la adopci\u00f3n de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas de iluminaci\u00f3n, las escasas pol\u00edticas para contener la contaminaci\u00f3n lum\u00ednica y los conflictos geopol\u00edticos. A diferencia de estudios previos basados \u00fanicamente en promedios, esta investigaci\u00f3n utiliz\u00f3 un algoritmo de detecci\u00f3n continua de cambios que permiti\u00f3 identificar con detalle el momento en que ocurren las variaciones de la ALAN, as\u00ed como su intensidad, direcci\u00f3n y naturaleza a lo largo del tiempo.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio emple\u00f3 una escala de an\u00e1lisis muy fina. Cada p\u00edxel correspondi\u00f3 a un \u00e1rea de aproximadamente 500 metros en el ecuador, lo que permiti\u00f3 examinar con gran precisi\u00f3n las principales regiones habitadas del planeta, entre las latitudes 70\u00b0 norte y 60\u00b0 sur, en el periodo de 2014 a 2022. En conjunto, <strong>el material analizado abarc\u00f3 cerca de 15.16 millones de kil\u00f3metros cuadrados, equivalentes al 10% de la superficie terrestre,<\/strong> con \u00e9nfasis en las zonas donde la <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/la-contaminacion-luminica-no-solo-le-quita-el-sueno-a-los-humanos-altera-todo-el-ecosistema\">iluminaci\u00f3n nocturna<\/a> resulta m\u00e1s relevante.<\/p>\n<p>Zhe Zhu, coautor de la investigaci\u00f3n y director del Laboratorio Global de Teledetecci\u00f3n Ambiental de la Universidad de Connecticut, <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/earth\/human-dimensions\/earth-at-night\/nasa-night-light-imagery-tracks-us-energy-transition-global-volatility\/\">explic\u00f3<\/a> que esta metodolog\u00eda permiti\u00f3 determinar que las noches del planeta funcionan como \u201cun retrato din\u00e1mico\u201d que se moldea en tiempo real a partir de m\u00faltiples factores que ocurren de manera simult\u00e1nea. En consecuencia, seg\u00fan sus palabras, \u201cel mundo no solo se est\u00e1 volviendo m\u00e1s brillante, sino que parpadea\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2>Cada vez usamos m\u00e1s luz artificial<\/h2>\n<p>El an\u00e1lisis identific\u00f3 cambios abruptos en cerca de 2.05 millones de kil\u00f3metros cuadrados, as\u00ed como transformaciones graduales en aproximadamente 19.04 millones de kil\u00f3metros cuadrados. En promedio, en cada zona con variaciones se registraron 6.6 cambios distintos durante los nueve a\u00f1os de observaci\u00f3n. Un dato relevante es que el \u00e1rea total que experiment\u00f3 modificaciones en ese periodo es 5.5 veces mayor que toda la superficie que estaba iluminada al inicio del estudio en 2014.<\/p>\n<p>En t\u00e9rminos netos, el estudio encontr\u00f3 que <strong>entre 2013 y 2022 la luz artificial en el planeta registr\u00f3 un incremento del 16%.<\/strong> De acuerdo con la investigaci\u00f3n, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-026-10260-w\">publicada en la revista <em>Nature<\/em><\/a>, este crecimiento supera el ritmo de aumento de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial, lo que sugiere que el uso de iluminaci\u00f3n por persona se ha intensificado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>No obstante, aunque la aparici\u00f3n de nuevas fuentes luminosas report\u00f3 un incremento del 34% respecto a los niveles de 2014, el an\u00e1lisis tambi\u00e9n detect\u00f3 regiones que se oscurecieron, lo que ayud\u00f3 a compensar el aumento del brillo en un 18%.<\/p>\n<p>A nivel regional, la investigaci\u00f3n muestra una marcada heterogeneidad en el comportamiento del fen\u00f3meno, que, seg\u00fan los autores, responde en gran medida al crecimiento urbano, cambios en el consumo energ\u00e9tico, pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas e incluso crisis econ\u00f3micas y sociales.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La iluminaci\u00f3n artificial en el planeta aumenta&#46;&#46;&#46;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":139681,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[46],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-139680","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tecnologia"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
