El Alzheimer y otras enfermedades neurodegenerativas se han convertido en una de las mayores preocupaciones de salud p\u00fablica.<\/p>\n<p>A pesar de d\u00e9cadas de investigaci\u00f3n, la ciencia a\u00fan no encuentra una cura definitiva para el Alzheimer. Sin embargo, el trabajo acumulado ha dado frutos: hoy entendemos mejor qu\u00e9 prote\u00ednas alteran el funcionamiento del cerebro y qu\u00e9 factores biol\u00f3gicos aceleran su deterioro.<\/p>\n<p>La estrategia m\u00e1s efectiva en este momento consiste en identificar estas enfermedades cuanto antes, reducir las probabilidades de desarrollarlas y, si aparecen, ralentizar su progresi\u00f3n. Estudios recientes coinciden en que ciertos h\u00e1bitos cotidianos, de comportamiento y de consumo, disminuyen el riesgo de desarrollar Alzheimer y otros tipos de deterioro cognitivo. Los sujetos que se alimentaron de huevo cinco o m\u00e1s veces por semana mostraron una disminuci\u00f3n del riesgo de 27%. El reporte final, publicado en la revista <em>JAMA<\/em>, revel\u00f3 que aquellas personas que consumieron caf\u00e9 o t\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/estudio-demuestra-que-beber-cafe-o-te-todos-los-dias-puede-reducir-el-riesgo-de-demencia\">redujeron el riesgo de desarrollar demencia en 18%,<\/a> en relaci\u00f3n con las que rara vez lo bebieron. Mientras tanto, quienes mantuvieron el h\u00e1bito de dominar un instrumento musical redujeron 35% el riesgo de demencia.
