Tanto en el Senado como en campa\u00f1a se comport\u00f3 como un gladiador. En general contradictor m\u00edo, lamento que su seriedad en el debate desaparezca. Le env\u00edo a su familia mi sentido p\u00e9same\u00bb, manifest\u00f3 el presidente Gustavo Petro en su cuenta de X.<\/p>\n<p>Vargas Lleras estudi\u00f3 Derecho en la Universidad del Rosario y tuvo una dilatada carrera pol\u00edtica durante la cual fue concejal de Bogot\u00e1, senador por cuatro periodos consecutivos, ministro de Interior y de Justicia y tambi\u00e9n de Vivienda.<\/p>\n<p>En el Senado, del cual fue presidente en el periodo 2003-2004, se caracteriz\u00f3 por su f\u00e9rrea postura contra los grupos guerrilleros de izquierda, y en 2002 fue v\u00edctima de un atentado con un libro bomba atribuido a las FARC en el cual perdi\u00f3 tres dedos de la mano izquierda.<\/p>\n<p>El pol\u00edtico, nacido en Bogot\u00e1 el 16 de febrero de 1962, fue el l\u00edder del partido de derecha Cambio Radical, por el cual fue candidato presidencial en 2010 y 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, su carrera pol\u00edtica se vio truncada en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os por problemas de salud luego de que en 2016 le detectaran un tumor cerebral que lo oblig\u00f3 a someterse a varias cirug\u00edas en Colombia y en Houston (EE.UU.).<\/p>\n<p>Vargas Lleras no se apart\u00f3 totalmente de la actividad pol\u00edtica en la que siempre se mantuvo activo como l\u00edder de Cambio Radical y columnista del diario &#8216;El Tiempo&#8217;, donde hac\u00eda oposici\u00f3n a Petro.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abHoy los colombianos decidimos, es el momento de ponerle freno a este desgobierno. La violencia paraestatal, la inversi\u00f3n paralizada, salud colapsada, incertidumbre jur\u00eddica, corrupci\u00f3n desbordada, d\u00e9ficit disparado y los grupos al margen de la ley cada d\u00eda m\u00e1s fortalecidos es el regalo de Petro y su gobierno &#8216;del cambio'\u00bb, escribi\u00f3 el pasado 8 de marzo, d\u00eda de las elecciones legislativas.<\/p>\n<p>Incluso cinco d\u00edas antes, el 3 de marzo, difundi\u00f3 un v\u00eddeo en el que hizo un resumen de su trayectoria pol\u00edtica que cre\u00f3 en sus seguidores la expectativa de que podr\u00eda volver a presentarse como candidato en las elecciones presidenciales de este a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>A Vargas Lleras le sobreviven su hija Clemencia y su nieto Agust\u00edn, de cuyo nacimiento inform\u00f3 orgulloso el a\u00f1o pasado en sus redes sociales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Con EFE<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El pol\u00edtico Germ\u00e1n Vargas Lleras, fallecido este&#46;&#46;&#46;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":190128,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[43],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-190127","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-internacionales"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
