Tras analizarlo, el equipo detr\u00e1s del hallazgo concluy\u00f3 que podr\u00eda ser uno de los pocos restos supervivientes de un protoplaneta que habr\u00eda desaparecido hace 4,500 millones de a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>De acuerdo con el art\u00edculo publicado en la revista <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0012821X26002128?via%3Dihub\"><em>Earth and Planetary Science Letters<\/em><\/a>, el meteorito pudo originarse en un cuerpo de, al menos, 1,000 kil\u00f3metros de radio. Esa escala lo coloca por encima de cualquier asteroide conocido y en un rango comparable al de un planeta enano como Plut\u00f3n. Lo que parec\u00eda una roca oscura de medio kilo con peque\u00f1os cristales verdes en su interior pronto result\u00f3 ser una angrita, una rar\u00edsima familia de rocas espaciales. Para ponerlo en perspectiva, de los casi 80,000 meteoritos catalogados apenas unas 68 muestras pertenecen a esta categor\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>El inter\u00e9s de las angritas radica en que son rocas volc\u00e1nicas. Su composici\u00f3n revela que alguna vez fueron magma fundido, una se\u00f1al de que se originaron en cuerpos que experimentaron una evoluci\u00f3n geol\u00f3gica compleja. En contraste, la mayor\u00eda de los <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/hace-3000-anos-artesanos-chinos-fabricaron-una-hacha-con-metal-extraterrestre-asi-fue-como-arqueologos-la-hallaron\">meteoritos<\/a> son simples mezclas de polvo y metales.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, NWA 12774 posee una caracter\u00edstica poco com\u00fan incluso entre las angritas. En su interior conserva cristales de clinopiroxeno excepcionalmente ricos en aluminio y notablemente bien preservados. Para lograrlo, desarrollaron un geobar\u00f3metro que revel\u00f3 que estas estructuras se cristalizaron bajo presiones cercanas a los 17.6 kilobares.<\/p>\n<p>Como referencia, un kilobar equivale aproximadamente a la presi\u00f3n que existe en el fondo de la fosa de las Marianas, el punto m\u00e1s profundo de los oc\u00e9anos de la Tierra. Los cristales de NWA 12774 se formaron bajo casi 18 veces esa presi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En otras palabras, ning\u00fan asteroide podr\u00eda generar la presi\u00f3n interna necesaria para producir el clinopiroxeno que muestra el meteorito. La \u00fanica explicaci\u00f3n plausible es que provenga de un cuerpo con un radio m\u00ednimo de 1,000 kil\u00f3metros.
