La realidad es algo m\u00e1s compleja. Aunque gigantes como IBM y Google compiten por construir procesadores con cientos o incluso miles de c\u00fabits, la cantidad no es la \u00fanica medida que importa. Los errores siguen siendo uno de los principales obst\u00e1culos de esta tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso llama la atenci\u00f3n Helios, una nueva computadora cu\u00e1ntica desarrollada por Quantinuum. Con \u201csolo\u201d 98 c\u00fabits f\u00edsicos, una cifra modesta frente a algunos de sus competidores, la compa\u00f1\u00eda la presenta como una de las m\u00e1quinas cu\u00e1nticas m\u00e1s precisas del mundo. Ahora, un estudio publicado en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-026-10676-4\"><em>Nature<\/em><\/a> aporta datos experimentales que respaldan en parte esa afirmaci\u00f3n. Cada operaci\u00f3n introduce peque\u00f1as imprecisiones que, acumuladas, pueden arruinar un c\u00e1lculo. Cuantos m\u00e1s c\u00fabits se a\u00f1aden a un sistema, m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil resulta mantenerlos bajo control. Los resultados muestran que es posible escalar hasta 98 c\u00fabits manteniendo una alta fidelidad: presenta una tasa de error inferior a una por cada mil operaciones cu\u00e1nticas entre pares de c\u00fabits.<\/p>\n<p>De acuerdo con Quantinuum, la clave est\u00e1 en la forma en que dise\u00f1\u00f3 la computadora. Helios organiza los c\u00fabits de una manera comparable a una l\u00ednea de ensamblaje. Mientras algunos permanecen en regiones de almacenamiento, otros se trasladan a zonas especializadas donde se realizan las operaciones cu\u00e1nticas y las mediciones.
