{"id":295175,"date":"2026-06-23T15:47:57","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T15:47:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/6a3a99eae76029c3cf66a83b"},"modified":"2026-06-23T15:47:57","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T15:47:57","slug":"este-implante-cerebral-capaz-de-detectar-cancer-sera-probado-por-primera-vez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sarmiento24h.com\/?p=295175","title":{"rendered":"Este implante cerebral capaz de detectar c\u00e1ncer ser\u00e1 probado por primera vez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Una <em>startup<\/em> de San Francisco vinculada a Neuralink, la empresa de Elon Musk, ha comenzado a probar su implante cerebral para detectar y tratar el c\u00e1ncer en seres humanos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coherence Neuro afirma que coloc\u00f3 temporalmente su implante, del tama\u00f1o de una moneda, en <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/por-fin-estamos-entendiendo-a-los-superancianos-y-por-que-su-cerebro-se-niega-a-envejecer\">los cerebros<\/a> de tres personas sometidas a una intervenci\u00f3n quir\u00fargica para extirparles <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/cientificos-desarrollan-una-inyeccion-para-reducir-tumores-cancerigenos-de-cabeza-y-cuello-en-semanas\">tumores cerebrales<\/a><\/strong> en el Royal Melbourne Hospital de Australia. El implante permaneci\u00f3 colocado durante unos 30 minutos antes de ser retirado, lo que supuso una importante prueba de seguridad antes de que el dispositivo pueda implantarse a largo plazo en pacientes con <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/los-microplasticos-ya-estan-en-todos-los-cerebros-humanos-y-guardan-un-vinculo-inquietante-con-los-tumores\">c\u00e1ncer cerebral.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>C\u00f3mo funciona este dispositivo<\/h2>\n<p>Conocido como <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/nueva-interfaz-cerebro-computadora-ayuda-a-paciente-con-esclerosis-a-hablar\">interfaz cerebro-computadora (BCI)<\/a>, el dispositivo de Coherence Neuro <strong>est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para detectar las se\u00f1ales el\u00e9ctricas espec\u00edficas de <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/los-diagnosticos-de-cancer-en-jovenes-aumentan-en-el-mundo-y-la-ciencia-aun-busca-una-explicacion\">los tumores<\/a> y aplicar una estimulaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica suave para impedir su crecimiento.<\/strong> Durante el tiempo que el implante permaneci\u00f3 en los cerebros de los pacientes, la empresa pudo comprobar su funcionamiento durante un breve periodo. Los pacientes dieron su consentimiento previo a la cirug\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew MacDougall, neurocirujano jefe de Neuralink, es asesor e inversionista en Coherence. Rory Murphy, neurocirujano del Instituto Neurol\u00f3gico Barrow en Arizona e investigador en uno de los ensayos de Neuralink, tambi\u00e9n participar\u00e1 en futuros ensayos del dispositivo Coherence.<\/p>\n<p>La idea de tratar los tumores cerebrales con estimulaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica surge de la observaci\u00f3n de que <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/un-nuevo-tratamiento-a-base-de-luz-elimina-celulas-cancerosas-sin-danar-las-sanas\">el tejido canceroso<\/a> posee propiedades el\u00e9ctricas distintivas. \u00abSe trata de afecciones el\u00e9ctricas, al igual que la epilepsia o la depresi\u00f3n. Es un problema de red neuronal en el cerebro\u00bb, afirma Ben Woodington, director ejecutivo y cofundador de Coherence.<\/p>\n<p>En 2019, investigadores de la Universidad de Stanford descubrieron que un grupo de tumores cerebrales agresivos, denominados gliomas de alto grado, impulsan su propio crecimiento mediante la formaci\u00f3n de sinapsis con neuronas sanas. En ese estudio, los investigadores demostraron que administrar un f\u00e1rmaco anticonvulsivo a ratones interrump\u00eda con \u00e9xito las se\u00f1ales el\u00e9ctricas que llegaban a los tumores y ralentizaba su crecimiento. Tambi\u00e9n se ha demostrado que la aplicaci\u00f3n de electricidad de baja intensidad interrumpe la divisi\u00f3n de las <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/las-celulas-tienen-un-sexto-sentido-que-podria-ser-clave-para-evitar-la-expansion-del-cancer\">c\u00e9lulas cancerosas<\/a> en los tumores cerebrales.<\/p>\n<p>Un dispositivo port\u00e1til llamado Optune, desarrollado por Novocure, fue aprobado por primera vez en 2011 para tratar a adultos con glioblastoma, que representa aproximadamente la mitad de los tumores cerebrales cancerosos. Est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para implantarse durante una cirug\u00eda de resecci\u00f3n de tumores cerebrales, cuando se extirpa el tumor. Incluso cuando los tumores se extirpan por completo, es com\u00fan que reaparezcan despu\u00e9s de la cirug\u00eda, algo que el dispositivo de la compa\u00f1\u00eda est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para prevenir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La empresa se centra inicialmente en el tratamiento del glioblastoma, que presenta un mayor riesgo de recidiva en comparaci\u00f3n con los tumores de grado inferior.
