El fiscal general de Venezuela<\/a>, Tarek William Saab<\/a>, y el defensor del Pueblo, Alfredo Ruiz, remitieron este 25 de febrero su renuncia a la Asamblea Nacional (Parlamento), controlada por el chavismo, y el primero fue designado como defensor encargado, en medio de los cambios tras la aprobaci\u00f3n de la ley de amnist\u00eda<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tras la renuncia de Saab, el Legislativo design\u00f3 al abogado especialista en Derechos Humanos y af\u00edn al chavismo Larry Daniel Devoe como fiscal general encargado.<\/p>\n

Saab, de 63 a\u00f1os, ejerci\u00f3 su cargo durante casi nueve a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de ser nombrado en 2017, presidiendo la respuesta del Gobierno a varios esc\u00e1ndalos importantes de corrupci\u00f3n<\/a>, y ejecutando arrestos de algunas conocidas figuras de la oposici\u00f3n y manifestantes que, seg\u00fan grupos de Derechos Humanos, fueron detenidos injustamente.<\/p>\n

Saab, un poeta con obras publicadas y numerosos tatuajes, siempre ha negado que el Gobierno tenga presos pol\u00edticos y dijo a Reuters este mes que espera que una ley de amnist\u00eda aprobada por la legislatura luego de la entrevista garantice un pa\u00eds \u00ab100% pacificado\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00abLos llamo prisioneros, no les doy ninguna etiqueta adicional\u00bb, dijo Saab a Reuters este mes. \u00abSon detenidos por acciones que en su momento fueron documentadas\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Las afirmaciones fueron una repetici\u00f3n de las que hizo en 2024, antes de que miles de personas fueran arrestadas por participar en protestas en medio de una elecci\u00f3n presidencial impugnada.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa Asamblea Nacional recibi\u00f3 comunicaciones dirigidas al diputado Jorge Rodr\u00edguez<\/a> G\u00f3mez, presidente de esta legislatura, firmadas: en primer lugar, por el ciudadano Tarek William Saab, mediante la cual presenta su renuncia al cargo de Fiscal General de la Rep\u00fablica; y en segundo lugar, por el ciudadano Alfredo Ruiz Angulo, mediante la cual presenta su renuncia al cargo de Defensor del Pueblo\u201d, inform\u00f3 la secretaria de la Asamblea, Mar\u00eda Alejandra Hern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n
