Constituye la pieza central de los planes de SpaceX para reducir dr\u00e1sticamente el costo de acceder al espacio, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la \u00f3rbita terrestre baja. La apuesta consiste en lanzar cargas mucho mayores, con menos viajes y sin tener que construir un cohete nuevo para cada misi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Para lograrlo, <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/alguien-despierte-a-spacex-porque-la-nasa-ya-esta-entrenando-con-el-modulo-lunar-de-blue-origin\">SpaceX<\/a> dise\u00f1\u00f3 el primer sistema de lanzamiento completamente reutilizable. A diferencia de los cohetes actuales, que descartan parte de su estructura tras cada despegue, Starship pretende recuperar tanto el propulsor Super Heavy como la propia nave para volver a utilizarlos. Si ese modelo funciona, el costo de cada lanzamiento de \u00abcohete pesado\u00bb podr\u00eda reducirse de forma considerable y permitir misiones mucho m\u00e1s ambiciosas que las actuales.<\/p>\n<h2>La primera misi\u00f3n \u00fatil<\/h2>\n<p>Para esta misi\u00f3n, conocida como Flight 13, SpaceX planea desplegar por primera vez 20 sat\u00e9lites Starlink V3 funcionales. Representa el primer intento de utilizar el veh\u00edculo para una misi\u00f3n con un prop\u00f3sito operativo. Los sat\u00e9lites no permanecer\u00e1n en \u00f3rbita. Reingresar\u00e1n a la atm\u00f3sfera tras completar la demostraci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n<p>Por ahora, el objetivo es validar el mecanismo de liberaci\u00f3n de carga y comprobar que los sat\u00e9lites pueden desplegar sus paneles solares, activar sus sistemas de comunicaci\u00f3n y establecer enlaces con la constelaci\u00f3n Starlink. Hasta ahora, los vuelos de Starship transportaron \u00fanicamente simuladores de carga.<\/p>\n<p>Si supera la prueba, Starship estar\u00e1 m\u00e1s cerca de convertirse en el nuevo caballo de batalla de SpaceX y comenzar el relevo del Falcon 9, el cohete reutilizable que hoy sostiene pr\u00e1cticamente todas las operaciones de la compa\u00f1\u00eda, desde el despliegue de sat\u00e9lites Starlink hasta el transporte de astronautas y carga para la NASA.<\/p>\n<p>La agencia espacial estadounidense tambi\u00e9n tiene planes para Starship. Seleccion\u00f3 una versi\u00f3n modificada del veh\u00edculo como el m\u00f3dulo que <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/estos-son-los-tripulantes-de-artemis-iii-la-mision-orbital-que-preparara-el-regreso-a-la-luna\">llevar\u00e1 a los astronautas<\/a> del programa Artemis desde la \u00f3rbita lunar hasta la superficie de la Luna. Antes de que eso ocurra, sin embargo, el cohete debe demostrar que puede completar misiones de forma segura y transportar carga \u00fatil sin que se registren errores o da\u00f1os mayores.<\/p>\n<p>La misi\u00f3n llega despu\u00e9s del accidentado Flight 12, en el que la Starship complet\u00f3 con \u00e9xito su recorrido suborbital y sobrevivi\u00f3 al reingreso, mientras que el propulsor Super Heavy no logr\u00f3 encender correctamente varios de sus motores durante las maniobras de retorno. Como consecuencia, no pudo completar el <em>boostback burn<\/em> y posteriormente realiz\u00f3 un amerizaje forzoso (<em>hard splashdown<\/em>) en el golfo de M\u00e9xico, donde fue destruido.
