Un nuevo estudio identific\u00f3 mecanismos que podr\u00edan explicar este fen\u00f3meno.<\/p>\n<p>Investigadores de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Washington en San Luis y de la Universidad de Princeton dise\u00f1aron un modelo experimental en ratones para comprender por qu\u00e9 las experiencias de estr\u00e9s intenso durante los primeros a\u00f1os de vida pueden aumentar la vulnerabilidad a problemas de salud mental muchos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s. Un an\u00e1lisis de m\u00e1s de 23,000 neuroim\u00e1genes tambi\u00e9n encontr\u00f3 asociaciones con la visi\u00f3n, el movimiento y la percepci\u00f3n corporal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<p>La investigaci\u00f3n, publicada en la revista <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/neuron\/fulltext\/S0896-6273(26)00573-8\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.cell.com\/neuron\/fulltext\/S0896-6273(26)00573-8&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/neuron\/fulltext\/S0896-6273(26)00573-8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Neuron<\/em><\/a>, estudi\u00f3 de manera espec\u00edfica el comportamiento del epigenoma de las c\u00e9lulas encargadas de producir dopamina. El epigenoma es un conjunto de compuestos qu\u00edmicos y prote\u00ednas que, al unirse al ADN, determina la activaci\u00f3n o inhabilitaci\u00f3n de ciertos genes, sin modificar la secuencia gen\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSe cree que el epigenoma se encuentra en la interfaz entre la naturaleza y la crianza, y sirve como una especie de memoria molecular de lo que nuestras c\u00e9lulas han experimentado\u201d, explic\u00f3 Pe\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>La influencia de este mecanismo est\u00e1 determinada por la manera en que se organiza el ADN en el n\u00facleo de la c\u00e9lula, donde se \u201cenrolla\u201d en prote\u00ednas conocidas como histonas. El conjunto o \u201cpaquete\u201d resultante se denomina cromatina. De esta forma, <strong>la manera en que se empaqueta la cromatina determina qu\u00e9 partes del ADN quedan m\u00e1s accesibles o restringidas a la acci\u00f3n del epigenoma.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores analizaron c\u00f3mo se comporta este mecanismo en situaciones de estr\u00e9s durante edades tempranas y si los episodios traum\u00e1ticos pod\u00edan tener un efecto a largo plazo. Para ello, estudiaron el procedimiento de empaquetamiento del ADN en las neuronas productoras de dopamina de ratones j\u00f3venes sometidos a situaciones de estr\u00e9s. Los registros fueron comparados con los de roedores criados en condiciones normales.<\/p>\n<p>En los experimentos, los cient\u00edficos prestaron especial atenci\u00f3n a una enzima conocida como SETD7, que mostr\u00f3 niveles de concentraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s elevados en los ratones expuestos a situaciones de estr\u00e9s durante las primeras etapas de vida.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan explican los autores, la SETD7 coloca una marca qu\u00edmica, denominada H3K4me1, sobre determinadas regiones del ADN. Esa marca favorece que la estructura que contiene al ADN se abra y que los genes relacionados con la respuesta al estr\u00e9s queden m\u00e1s accesibles, lo que <strong>parece predisponer al cerebro para reaccionar de manera m\u00e1s intensa ante situaciones estresantes posteriores.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Para comprobar si esta alteraci\u00f3n estaba realmente relacionada con una mayor sensibilidad al estr\u00e9s y no era simplemente una consecuencia del mismo, los cient\u00edficos realizaron un segundo experimento.<\/p>\n<p>Mediante una intervenci\u00f3n artificial, aumentaron los niveles de SETD7 en ratones j\u00f3venes que nunca hab\u00edan sido expuestos a situaciones de estr\u00e9s. Las pruebas mostraron que, aunque los animales no hab\u00edan sufrido adversidades tempranas, desarrollaron un ADN m\u00e1s abierto en sus neuronas productoras de dopamina. Ya en la edad adulta, estas neuronas reaccionaban con mayor intensidad ante est\u00edmulos y los animales mostraban m\u00e1s comportamientos asociados con la <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/este-estudio-revela-los-7-habitos-que-cientificamente-reducen-la-ansiedad-y-la-depresion\">ansiedad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>De igual manera, los cient\u00edficos realizaron una prueba en sentido contrario: bloquearon la actividad de SETD7 despu\u00e9s de que los ratones hubieran sufrido estr\u00e9s durante su juventud.
