Por la luz que emiten parecen compartir algunas caracter\u00edsticas con estrellas gigantescas, pero los astr\u00f3nomos sospechan que en realidad son agujeros negros cubiertos por una envoltura de gas extraordinariamente densa y lum\u00ednica. El agujero negro alimentar\u00eda todo el sistema y el gas transformar\u00eda su radiaci\u00f3n hasta darle una apariencia inesperadamente estelar.<\/p>\n<p>Los astr\u00f3nomos han bautizado a estos todav\u00eda hipot\u00e9ticos objetos como \u201cestrellas de agujero negro\u201d. La comunidad cient\u00edfica a\u00fan no puede afirmar que constituyan una nueva clase de objeto astrof\u00edsico. Sin embargo, los investigadores ya han encontrado varios candidatos que encajan con esta explicaci\u00f3n. El m\u00e1s reciente acaba de ser detallado en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-026-10846-4\"><em>Nature<\/em><\/a> gracias a observaciones del telescopio espacial James Webb (JWST).<\/p>\n<h2>El candidato m\u00e1s reciente a estrella de agujero negro<\/h2>\n<p>La se\u00f1al que hace dudar a los astr\u00f3nomos proviene de un momento en que el universo solo ten\u00eda 660 millones de a\u00f1os. En las im\u00e1genes del JWST, el objeto parece uno de los tantos puntos rojizos y brillantes que el telescopio ha encontrado en el universo primitivo. Emite alrededor de 100,000 millones de veces m\u00e1s energ\u00eda de la que podr\u00eda producir cualquier estrella mediante fusi\u00f3n nuclear, de acuerdo con el equipo. Incluso para la \u00e9poca en que surgi\u00f3, durante el universo temprano, es un objeto sumamente brillante.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, una parte de su luz desaparece abruptamente. Las estrellas pueden producir una se\u00f1al parecida cuando su atm\u00f3sfera absorbe determinadas longitudes de onda, pero en MoM-BH*-1 el efecto es demasiado intenso para explicarlo con estrellas normales. Los investigadores creen que una enorme cantidad de gas extremadamente denso absorbe esa luz.<\/p>\n<p>Esas pistas llevaron a los cient\u00edficos hasta la hip\u00f3tesis de la <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/esos-misteriosos-puntos-rojos-en-el-universo-primitivo-podrian-ser-agujeros-negros-disfrazados-de-estrellas\">estrella de agujero negro.<\/a> En el centro de MoM-BH*-1 habr\u00eda un agujero negro devorando materia y liberando enormes cantidades de energ\u00eda. A su alrededor, una envoltura de gas formar\u00eda una estructura de aproximadamente el tama\u00f1o de nuestro sistema solar. La energ\u00eda atravesar\u00eda ese gas antes de escapar al espacio y adquirir\u00eda, durante el proceso, algunas de las caracter\u00edsticas que normalmente esperar\u00edamos encontrar en la luz de una estrella.<\/p>\n<p>Desde miles de millones de a\u00f1os luz de distancia parecer\u00eda una estrella gigantesca. Pero no hay tal cosa, sino una especie de capullo cuyo centro es un agujero negro.<\/p>\n<h2>Las estrellas de agujero negro resolver\u00edan una parte del misterio de los puntos rojos<\/h2>\n<p>La hip\u00f3tesis podr\u00eda ayudar a resolver otro misterio que abri\u00f3 el JWST. El telescopio encuentra con sorprendente frecuencia peque\u00f1os puntos rojos en el universo primitivo cuyo origen sigue siendo incierto. Ninguna de las categor\u00edas habituales parece explicar todas sus caracter\u00edsticas al mismo tiempo. Para resolver el enigma, los cient\u00edficos han planteado propuestas cada vez m\u00e1s ex\u00f3ticas: podr\u00edan ser galaxias extraordinariamente compactas y repletas de estrellas, agujeros negros ocultos por polvo o <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/parece-que-encontramos-los-restos-de-una-estrella-primigenia-uno-de-los-objetos-mas-esquivos-del-universo\">sistemas completamente diferentes<\/a> a los que observamos en el universo actual.<\/p>\n<p>Entre esas posibilidades est\u00e1n las estrellas de agujero negro. MoM-BH*-1 resulta especialmente interesante para la investigaci\u00f3n porque, a diferencia de otros puntos rojos, su agujero negro parece ocultar casi por completo a la galaxia que lo rodea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCada peque\u00f1o punto rojo es consistente con ser una estrella de agujero negro, incrustada en una galaxia temprana gen\u00e9rica.
