secretos del universo\u00bb, declar\u00f3 el presidente estadounidense <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">Donald Trump<\/a> el viernes durante una ceremonia en la sede de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/nasa\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">NASA<\/a> en Houston, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/texas\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">Texas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Con m\u00e1s de 12 metros de altura, este observatorio de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n despega desde <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/florida\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">Florida<\/a> a las 07:26 locales (11:26 GMT) a bordo de un cohete Falcon Heavy de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/spacex\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">SpaceX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fue desarrollado durante m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cada, <strong>con un costo superior a los 4.000 millones de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/d\u00f3lares\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">d\u00f3lares<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El telescopio lleva el nombre de la pionera astr\u00f3noma estadounidense <strong>Nancy Grace Roman, conocida como la \u00abmadre del Hubble\u00bb<\/strong>, otro de los telescopios insignia de la NASA.<\/p>\n<p>Mientras que el Hubble revel\u00f3 que el universo se expande m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido de lo que se pensaba, el Roman tratar\u00e1 de responder a otros misterios a\u00fan sin resolver.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote\" readability=\"8\">\n<p>\u00abRoman dar\u00e1 a la Tierra un nuevo atlas del universo\u00bb, afirm\u00f3 el administrador de la NASA Jared Isaacman en abril, cuando present\u00f3 el proyecto a la prensa.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>Estudiar lo invisible<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Con un campo de visi\u00f3n m\u00e1s de 100 veces mayor que el del Hubble \u2014y significativamente m\u00e1s amplio que el del James Webb\u2014, el Roman estudiar\u00e1 vastas franjas del cielo desde un punto de observaci\u00f3n situado a 1,5 millones de kil\u00f3metros de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/tierra\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">Tierra<\/a>, al que tardar\u00e1 unos 100 d\u00edas en llegar.<\/p>\n<p>Est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para trabajar en conjunto con otros observatorios como el Webb, que ofrece mayor potencia y precisi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Tiene como objetivo descubrir miles de exoplanetas, as\u00ed como decenas de miles de supernovas, las muertes explosivas de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/estrellas\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">estrellas<\/a> masivas.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote\" readability=\"9\">\n<p>\u00abSer\u00e1 el mayor cat\u00e1logo de objetos astron\u00f3micos jam\u00e1s elaborado y nos ayudar\u00e1 a comprender cu\u00e1n comunes son sistemas solares como el nuestro\u00bb, declar\u00f3 a la AFP Dave Content, responsable t\u00e9cnico de Roman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>El nuevo telescopio tambi\u00e9n <strong>arrojar\u00e1 luz sobre dos de los mayores misterios de la f\u00edsica: la materia oscura y la energ\u00eda oscura.<\/strong> Se desconocen sus or\u00edgenes, pero se cree que juntas constituyen alrededor del 95% del universo.<\/p>\n<p>Se cree que la materia oscura act\u00faa como una especie de pegamento gravitacional, mientras que la energ\u00eda oscura ser\u00eda una fuerza repulsiva que impulsa la expansi\u00f3n del universo.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a su visi\u00f3n en infrarrojo, <strong>podr\u00e1 detectar la luz emitida por objetos celestes hace miles de millones de a\u00f1os.<\/strong> As\u00ed, mirar\u00e1 hacia atr\u00e1s en el tiempo para ofrecer a los cient\u00edficos una ventana al pasado remoto del universo, con el fin comprender mejor estos dos fen\u00f3menos misteriosos.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Poner a prueba el modelo est\u00e1ndar del universo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Las observaciones del Roman complementar\u00e1n la labor del Observatorio Rubin en Chile y de la sonda Euclid de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/es\/tag\/agencia-espacial-europea\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\">Agencia Espacial Europea<\/a> (ESA).<\/p>\n<p>Julie McEnery, cient\u00edfica principal del proyecto Roman, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que investigaciones recientes sugieren que la forma en que los cient\u00edficos han concebido la expansi\u00f3n temprana del universo, basada en las predicciones de los modelos existentes, podr\u00eda ser err\u00f3nea.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote\" readability=\"8\">\n<p>\u00abObservaciones recientes apuntan a que nuestro modelo est\u00e1ndar del universo es incorrecto\u00bb, declar\u00f3 en una rueda de prensa el s\u00e1bado, a\u00f1adiendo que el Roman ayudar\u00e1 a aclararlo.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00abDir\u00e1 de forma definitiva: &#8216;S\u00ed, el modelo funciona, o no funciona&#8217;. Y si no funciona, nos proporcionar\u00e1 la precisi\u00f3n y la calidad de los datos que nos permitir\u00e1n empezar a distinguir entre las distintas opciones\u00bb, a\u00f1adi\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Los cient\u00edficos y el p\u00fablico tendr\u00e1n acceso a todos los datos del Roman.
