Por ahora, el sistema contiene estimaciones para alrededor de 9,000 millones de variantes posibles. Su meta es ayudar a investigadores a identificar cu\u00e1les podr\u00edan alterar la regulaci\u00f3n de los genes o estar relacionadas con enfermedades.<\/p>\n<p>La diferencia con el Proyecto Genoma Humano es que aquel esfuerzo permiti\u00f3 leer y ubicar las aproximadamente 3,000 millones de <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/el-primer-genoma-humano-sintetico-ya-esta-en-camino\">letras que componen nuestro ADN<\/a>. AlphaGenome Atlas parte de ese mapa ya existente y hace otra pregunta: \u00bfqu\u00e9 podr\u00eda ocurrir si cambiamos una de esas letras?<\/p>\n<p>El ADN utiliza un alfabeto de cuatro letras o nucl\u00e9otidos: A, C, G y T. El ADN humano tiene alrededor de 3,000 millones de posiciones. En cada una, una letra puede cambiar por cualquiera de las otras tres. Por eso existen alrededor de 9,000 millones de cambios posibles de una sola letra. DeepMind utiliz\u00f3 <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/esta-nueva-ia-de-google-abre-nuevas-vias-para-entender-el-origen-genetico-de-enfermedades-raras\">AlphaGenome<\/a>, el modelo de aprendizaje profundo, para calcular anticipadamente el posible efecto molecular de pr\u00e1cticamente todos esos cambios.<\/p>\n<p>Con este nuevo atlas, la compa\u00f1\u00eda ha reunido alrededor de un Petabyte de informaci\u00f3n. Es solo el principio de un largo viaje. Por ahora el Atlas calcula cambios de una sola letra. Un uso t\u00edpico ser\u00eda tomar una variante concreta encontrada en un paciente o en una cohorte y consultar qu\u00e9 efecto predice el sistema sobre procesos como la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9netica o la regulaci\u00f3n del <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wired.com\/articulos\/logran-editar-con-precision-el-adn-de-embriones-humanos-acercando-la-posibilidad-de-bebes-modificados-geneticamente\">ADN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Las cerca de 9,000 millones de variantes de una sola letra ya fueron precalculadas.
