En experimentos realizados en laboratorio, los investigadores consiguieron eliminar el cromosoma adicional asociado al s\u00edndrome de Down en c\u00e9lulas humanas.<\/p>\n<p>El resultado ha generado inter\u00e9s porque demuestra algo que durante d\u00e9cadas se consider\u00f3 extremadamente complejo. En condiciones de laboratorio, <strong>Jap\u00f3n elimina cromosoma extra<\/strong> en c\u00e9lulas con trisom\u00eda 21 mediante herramientas modernas de edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio fue publicado en la revista cient\u00edfica <em>PNAS Nexus<\/em> y se centr\u00f3 en investigar si era posible corregir la anomal\u00eda gen\u00e9tica responsable del s\u00edndrome de Down.<\/p>\n<p>El s\u00edndrome de Down ocurre cuando una persona tiene tres copias del cromosoma 21 en lugar de dos. Esta condici\u00f3n se conoce como <strong>trisom\u00eda 21<\/strong> y modifica la actividad de numerosos genes.<\/p>\n<p>En la investigaci\u00f3n japonesa, los cient\u00edficos utilizaron la herramienta de edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica <strong>CRISPR-Cas9<\/strong>, que permite identificar y cortar regiones espec\u00edficas del ADN.<\/p>\n<p>Mediante esta t\u00e9cnica, los investigadores lograron dirigir la edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica hacia el cromosoma adicional.
