Kid Rock<\/a> is invoking the words of the late Kobe Bryant as he heads into Super Bowl Sunday, aka the day he\u2019ll headline Turning Point USA\u2019s polarizing \u201chalftime show\u201d offering in protest of Bad Bunny\u2019s Super Bowl Halftime Show.<\/p>\n

In a Thursday (Feb. 5) post on X, Kid Rock shared a quote labeled \u201cMamba Mentality\u201d and attributed to the basketball legend about taking criticism in stride. \u201cLearn to love the hate,\u201d it reads. Embrace it. Enjoy it. You earned it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone should have one about you,\u201d it continues. \u201cHaters are a good problem to have. Nobody hates the good ones. They hate the great ones.\u201d <\/p>\n

The hip-hop and country artist was announced as part of Turning Point\u2019s \u201cAll-American Halftime Show\u201d lineup on Feb. 2, along with Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert and Gabby Barrett. The ultra conservative organization previously shared plans in October<\/a> to host the event at the same time as Bad Bunny\u2019s actual Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday (Feb. 8) in protest of a Spanish-speaking artist headlining the coveted gig. <\/p>\n

At the time, Turning Point promised that the alternative show would feature \u201canything in English\u201d by way of musical acts and celebrate \u201cfaith, family and freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n

As evidenced by the Charlie Kirk-founded institution\u2019s counter-programming, the September announcement that Benito would perform at the Super Bowl was controversial. At the time, many outraged conservatives labeled him<\/a> as being \u201canti-ICE,\u201d even though the Puerto Rican rapper hadn\u2019t yet shared a stance on the immigration enforcement agency beyond saying he passed up U.S. tour dates out of concern that \u201cICE could be outside\u201d his shows to target his Latino audience.<\/p>\n

One week before the Super Bowl, however, Bad Bunny won best m\u00fasica urbana album at the 2026 Grammys for Deb\u00ed Tirar M\u00e1s Fotos<\/em> \u2014 and while he was on stage making his acceptance speech, he made his feelings very clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore I say thanks to God, I\u2019m gonna say ICE out!\u201d he said at the Feb. 1 award show. \u201cWe\u2019re not savages, we\u2019re not animals, we are not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans \u2026 The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kid Rock, however, is a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump and has advocated for ICE\u2019s mission of mass deportations. In a response to reports<\/a> in May 2025 that the musician\u2019s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N\u2019 Roll Steakhouse in Nashville had been targeted by ICE raids, Kid Rock wrote on X, \u201cI 100% support getting illegal criminals out of our country no matter where they are.\u201d<\/p>\n
