Noah Kahan is No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart for the first time, bowing atop the Feb. 14-dated survey with “The Great Divide.”
The song starts with 19.3 million official U.S. streams, 3.3 million radio audience impressions and 5,000 sold in the week ending Feb. 5, according to Luminate, following its Jan. 30 release.
Kahan previously reached No. 2 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs twice, as a featured act on Zach Bryan’s “Sarah’s Place” in 2023 and with his own “Stick Season” in 2024.
Concurrently, “The Great Divide” debuts atop Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs, his first leader on the former and third on the latter, following “Dial Drunk” in 2023 and “Stick Season” in 2024. On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, the new single starts at No. 6.
The track is off to a hot start at rock radio formats, debuting at No. 14 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 2.5 million impressions. It also begins at Nos. 15 and 21 on Adult Alternative Airplay and Alternative Airplay, respectively. It additionally opens at No. 38 on Adult Pop Airplay.
“The Great Divide” is the lead single from Kahan’s fourth studio album of the same name, due April 24 on Mercury/Republic. Predecessor Stick Season ranks in the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200 (No. 7; 42,000 equivalent album units earned) and has earned 5 million units to date. It surged by 48% in the tracking week, amid buzz for the new song and the announcement of his upcoming stadium tour.
All Billboard charts dated Feb. 14 will update on Billboard.com Tuesday, Feb. 10.
